The second piece of the armor of God that Paul discusses in Ephesians 6 is the breastplate of righteousness. In the armor of a Roman soldier, the breastplate served as protection for some of the most important parts of the body. Underneath the breastplate is the heart, lungs and other organs necessary for life.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, Ephesians How can we stand firm in spiritual warfare? In EphesiansPaul tells us to be strong in the Lord and in his might and to put on the full armor of God.

The breastplate is the second piece of armor God gives us to wear in our battles. Both sides of our breastplate are significant to us in our battles. In ancient battles, a warrior wore his breastplate to protect his vital organs; it protected his heart from being penetrated by a spear or an arrow.
The phrase " Armor of God " is derived from Ephesians 6 "Put on the whole armour of Godthat ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Given the many points of contact between the Book of Wisdom and Paul's writings particularly his Epistle to the Romansit is perhaps unsurprising that the imagery of the Armor of God would be used here.
