Baby rabbits start off tiny, fluffy, and cute. But in their first year of life, rabbits grow quickly. The age at which your rabbit will stop growing depends on its breed, genetics, and diet.
Mini Rex are a smaller breed. They usually weigh in around 4. The fur and small size might be reasons why Mini Rex are popular.
Rex rabbits come in two main types, Mini Rex, and the standard Rex. I will deal with each type separately so as to avoid confusion. The standard Rex has a beautiful velvety fur that is popular in the fur trade not something I recommend or support, this is merely a note for accuracy.
Hi Everybunny, Sox here. I have a question about ME! I am 4 months old now, healthy and active as can be, but Mom says I am sooooo tiny and she wonders when I am going to get big like my brother Klondike and my sister Carnie.

Some of the breeds—like the critically endangered American, American Chinchilla and Silver Fox rabbits—are quite rare, while some of the other breeds—like the Netherland Dwarf and Holland Lop—are hugely popular. Of course, only one of the 48 breeds has the distinction of being the most popular rabbit breed, and that is none other than the marvelous, the magnificent, the majestic Mini Rex. In the five-year period between andthere were 93, rabbits shown at the annual conventions of the ARBA.
Mini Rex is a breed of domestic rabbit that was created in in Florida by the late Monna Berryhill of Texas. The Rex mutation, derived in France in the 19th century, is recessive and causes the hair to protrude outwards from the body, instead of lying flat, and the guard hairs to be shortened to the length of the undercoat. The small size, plush coat and friendly personalities of Mini Rex rabbits make them one of the most popular rabbit breeds in the United States.
Although presently, not as common in the UK, it too, is now becoming one of the more popular breeds. The main feature of the Mini Rex is the very beautiful, plush, velvet like fur coat. The fur is very soft with the hair protruding outwards, rather than lying flat, giving an individual springy feel when touched. The longest guard hairs the long coarse hairs forming a layer that covers and protects the soft underfur have been eliminated by selective breeding and the secondary guard hairs have been reduced to the same length as the undercoat hairs.
