Fender Stratocaster Guitar Forum. Messages: SCN vs Vintage Noiseless?
Hello everyone, I am picking up an American Standard Strat soon and the first thing I want to do is replace the pickups. Right now I am looking at three different ones. The vintage noiseless, hot noiseless, and SCN As you may notice they are all noiseless which is what I want.

No modifications are needed to work with the 1st generation Noiseless pickups which is labeled Noiseless on the pickup cover and is presently sold as the Vintage Noiseless version. You also need to modify the generation 3 noiseless pickup which is labeled N3 on the pickup cover and is presently a stock item in some Fender Deluxe basses. Fender has connected the pickup common on the 2nd and 3rd generation pickups to the pole pieces.
Fender Noiseless Pickups have been around for a while now, since the late 90s. Early upper end Fenders used Lace Sensor pickups but that split happened Fender decided to make their own. Here is info on the different versions released by Fender, there specs and when and on what guitars they were used.
